CONVENTIONAL PHYSIOTHERAPY

General overview

In french, "Kinesitherapy" means "treatment through movement". The appearance of kinesitherapy in France dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, with the creation of a Kinesitherapy Society in 1900. In 1946 the State diploma of masseur-physiotherapist is created.
Internationally, the term "physiotherapy" is much more widely used.

Main objectives of the method

The aim is to improve motor ability, motor function, coordination, balance, dexterity of movement.
Examples of motor skills acquired through conventional physiotherapy: handling a ball (catching, throwing, rolling, etc.), riding a bicycle, hopping, sitting correctly on a chair, climbing stairs without holding the handrail, climbing stairs from one foot to the other.

Specificities of the method

Pediatric physiotherapy most often involves play and voluntary movement, accompanied by verbal and/or tactile guidance to enable motor improvement.
The child exercises fine and gross motor skills. Sessions include bimanual activities, pathways, activities that often use visual stimulation to guide the child towards the desired movement.
A minimum of one to two sessions per week is usually required.

Who is this method for ?

Physiotherapy is useful for all children who have not yet completed all stages of motor development, usually acquired during the first year and early childhood. It allows all children to become more independent and to create links with their peers more easily. It is particularly useful for children with motor disorders, including cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, hemiparesis.

What parents say about it

Parents are looking for this kind of care for their child. Progress is often observed.
